January 2025 – Groundbreaking
Late 2026 – Completion of the HTRC
In January 2025, construction begins on the Heritage College's new research building, which will create a collaborative ecosystem to support clinical and translational research. The building, located in Athens on Ohio University’s Union Green, will bring together research labs and operations that are now housed in multiple buildings across campus. The state-of-the-art building will provide space for human subject and basic science research, as well as room for community health programs. The building is being funded in part by a gift of $16.2 million from the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation. This is the fifth capital improvement project for the college in 10 years. The Heritage Translational Research Center is expected to open in late 2026.
At the Heritage College, our ultimate goal is to train physicians who will provide the care needed to improve health outcomes in their communities. Research opportunities delivered by top tier research faculty inspire students' intellectual curiosity, enhance problem solving skills and improve their ability to ask questions as well as find, process and analyze information and apply data to the real world health problems that physicians see in the clinic.
