At Housing and Residence Life (HRL), we understand that our work goes beyond just a job — it becomes a way of life. Those of us who have dedicated ourselves to this field often refer to ourselves as “lifers,” and with good reason. Once you're part of the HRL family, you're always part of it. The deep connections we build with each other, the students, and the communities we serve are at the heart of everything we do.
This bond doesn't end when we move on from our roles; it’s something that continues to shape us long after. That’s why we place such a high value on staying connected with our alumni and friends. Over the decades, these relationships have grown into a powerful network that supports our mission and strengthens our community.
Our alumni and friends are integral to the continued success of Housing and Residence Life. They are not only vital supporters of our current initiatives but also serve as mentors, advisors, and passionate advocates for the work we do. Their ongoing involvement helps guide and inspire the next generation and reinforces the lasting impact of the HRL family. Together, we continue to nurture a legacy of leadership, community, and support that benefits students, staff, and the broader university environment.
Back on the Bricks Summer Event
Bobcats this is your chance to relive your college days and reconnect with OHIO. Join us July 18–20 (with an optional to come a day early or stay a day later) for an unforgettable on-campus experience, complete with optional activities like pickleball, golf, campus tours, and social events. Distinguished Alumni Award
Since 2018, Ohio University’s Housing and Residence Life department has honored an outstanding alumnus annually with the Distinguished Alumni Award. This award recognizes alumni who have made significant contributions in their careers and communities.
The award is given to those who have been part of Housing and Residence Life, through employment, leadership in organizations like the Residence Action Council (tRAC), Residence Hall Association, or hall councils. Recipients exemplify leadership, service, and community engagement.
Ohio University values the impact of personal connections on student experiences and encourages nominations that highlight meaningful stories of influence and growth.
Housing and Residence Life (HRL) Alumni Network
The HRL Alumni Network is an official group within the Ohio University Alumni Association, made up of Housing and Residence Life leaders and staff. The Alumni Association has a dedicated group on the Bobcat Network to help us stay connected with events, updates, and opportunities.
This online group lets us share photos from HRL alumni events, post announcements, notify you of upcoming events, and reconnect with Housing and Residence Life leaders from past years!
Whether you were a Resident Assistant, Hall Director, Security Aid, tRAC member, office assistant, Housing Ambassador, or part of our housing staff, this network is for you!
- STEP 1: Join the Bobcat Network by creating a profile.
- STEP 2: Once you have a profile within the Bobcat Network, click on GROUPS on the left navigation menu.
- STEP 3: In the search bar, type in Housing and Residence Life and then hit enter.
- STEP 4: The group will populate and click on the group to request to join!
