Reconnect with the OMS2 experience
It feels like just yesterday that I sat down with second year students at the Dublin Open to discuss their hopes and dreams for the upcoming school year. That’s how med school often goes: Days of studying seem to drag on forever, but the semesters go by in a flash!
Earlier this fall, I shared an interview with several OMS1s to shed light on the first-year student experience. Today, I'd like to reflect on our second-year student experience through the eyes of OMS2s Breanna Santoso and Jonathan Peters. Check out highlights of our conversation below.
Thinking back to his first year of med school, Jonathan said, “The biggest surprise that I found was how much we can learn in such a short amount of time. That’s what I’m most looking forward to—to keep on learning and keep getting one step closer to being a doctor.” What a great perspective to keep in mind amid end-of-semester exams and board prep!
To all of our second-year students: Hang in there! In the blink of an eye you’ll be on rotations, with boards in the rearview, feeling a bit awed by the growth and learning achieved in your second year of medical school!
To the rest of the Heritage College family: Your encouragement and compassion make a world of difference to students during their medical school journey. Thanks for always supporting our students and leading with care!
